JIMMY AND THE BITCH
(Bob Wilders)
Jimmy was standin’ on the sidewalk
With his hands inside his jeans.
He was lookin’ at the traffic.
But he was staring at his dreams.
Up behind him stepped a woman.
She raised her gun and she shot.
Jimmy fell to the curb you know
Death wasn’t what he sought.
Ambulance came roarin’ up
To take poor Jimmy away
A crowd of people stood lookin’ at the pool of blood
Where Jimmy Mitchell had laid.
The woman’s name was Patty Lonnigan.
And not once did she shed a tear.
She told the cop standing next to her
“Now my conscience is clear.”
Now later on at the hospital
You know Jimmy sat up in bed.
He said, “Where’s that crazy bitch.
That tried to make me dead?”
He stayed for about a week.
Dressed up in his hospital gown.
When it came time for the trial.
It was found that Jimmy had skipped town.
Now Patty’s serving six months.
And she’ll soon be out.
That Jimmy’s alive
Well you know there ain’t no doubt.
There’s more to this story.
Everyone around here agrees.
But Patty she ain’t talkin’
So it’s still a great big mystery.
