about
“Losing Your Freedom America” is NOT a pandemic song. It is actually an old song. I wrote it sometime in 1985. I can date when I wrote it because it was inspired by the Senate hearings held in 1985. Those were the hearings where Frank Zappa, Dee Snider and John Denver testified in opposition to Tipper Gore and the PMRC people’s proposal to put labels on sound recordings that had content they found objectionable. I wrote “Losing Your Freedom America” in response to it all. As the years have gone by though, the song is still relevant as each year passes, new administrations come and go and more laws are passed and freedom is eroded. So I guess in the end you can say the song is about what’s happening in these times just as much as it was about what was happening in 1985. Apply it as you will.

LOSING YOUR FREEDOM AMERICA
(words and music
by
Bob Wilders)
Losing your freedom, America.
Losing your freedom, America.
Losing your freedom, America.
America.
It’s the land of the brave, home of the free.
Liberty for all, at least that’s what they told me.
From coast to coast, from sea to shining sea.
But there’s a cancer on the land it’s sorry to see.
And you’re...
Losing your freedom, America.
Losing your freedom, America.
Losing your freedom, America.
America.
Ink of the bill of rights washed down the drains.
What’s left are books and books of law - paper chains.
No revolution, no tears, no blood stains.
Lost without a shot where apathy reigns.
And you’re...
Losing your freedom, America.
Losing your freedom, America.
Losing your freedom, America.
America.
It may sound like some fiction but it’s sadly true.
They’re chiseling it away slowly, I’m not kidding you.
Just what Jefferson and his friends would say I haven’t got a clue.
Here comes the Inquisition again, what’s old is now new.
And you’re...
Losing your freedom, America.
Losing your freedom, America.
Losing your freedom, America.
America.
